The hotel underwent a yearlong closure and a massive, multimillion-dollar ground-up renovation and upgrade project that transformed it into a larger, resort-style Hampton Inn & Suites. Originally consisting of two stories with 130 standard guest rooms, the newly rebranded Hampton Inn & Suites Phoenix/Scottsdale on Shea Boulevard has been enlarged and reconfigured, and now comprises three stories and a total of 150 new guest rooms, including 48 new suites and two new grand suites with expansive balconies. In the course of the renovation, one end of the original building was demolished, two new wings were added, and a third story was added to the remaining portion of the original building. The pool area was completely redone and the porte-cochere was relocated to a more a central position. As a result, every aspect of the hotel is newly constructed and designed for guest comfort and convenience.

The hotel also reopened with a new, larger fitness center and improved meeting facilities with updated technology. Fixtures and finishes in the guest rooms and public areas reflect the freshness of the Forever Young design initiative and are the most upscale and up-to-date available in the Hampton Inn line.
